The approach to Release deliveries defined in this standard is asymmetric. Only Release Creators will need to publish and maintain a web service. Release Distributors will be able to call this service and thus effect the (subsequent) deliveries of Releases.
As a consequence it is the Release Distributor that determines the speed of the communication. Whenever the Release Distributor is able or interested in receiving content, it can call the Release Creator’s web service. It is then the responsibility of the Release Creator to deliver the appropriate information (see also Clause 6.3).
A further consequence is that the capacity management lies with the Release Creator who may need to be able to satisfy concurrent (or near concurrent) web service requests from multiple Release Distributors. The number and frequency of such web service requests is likely to vary significantly over time and Release Creators are advised to plan their infrastructure accordingly.
