When using this standard, a Release Creator can only provide information to a Release Distributor upon the Release Distributor calling the Release Creator’s web service.

As a consequence, the Release Creator and the Release Distributor may agree how often the Release Distributor should call the GET ERN Feed call and how quickly it must react to the received information.

Similarly, the Release Creator and the Release Distributor may agree how quickly the Release Creator should react to the information received from the Release Distributor. (tThis may be implicit, e.g. because the Release Distributor has called a specific web service call, or explicit, e.g. because the Release Distributor has submitted a status code using the POST ERN Status call).

One way of implementing different types – and priorities – of Release deliveries is by using Atom categories (DDEX-defined categories are listed in Clause 8.1) and/or by providing multiple web service end points for the GET ERN Feed call.
