Planning an implementation
The detailed way in which you plan an implementation of a DDEX standard will ultimately depend on which standard you want to implement and who your business partner is. So, deciding which standard you want to implement is the first step.
Decide which standard you need to implement
There are usually two considerations when determining which DDEX standard you need to implement:
What role do I fulfil in the digital music value chain; and
What is the nature of the business transaction I want supported using a DDEX standard?
Information on determining which standard you need to implement can be found here.
Common implementation issues
Ultimately, all implementations are different because every implementer will have a slightly different IT infrastructure and data model. However, there are certain common issues that need to be considered and included in a project plan when tackling such an implementation.

Choosing a message choreography
You do not need to be a member of DDEX to evaluate or implement any of its standards. However, you do need to take out a DDEX Implementation Licence and be allocated a DDEX Party Identifier (DPID). You can find out more about acquiring a DDEX Implementation Licence and being allocated a DPID here.
