Creation dates

The NewReleaseMessage allows communicating one CreationDate for each SoundRecording or Video.

This date is typically the date on which the sound recording's mastering process ended. Consequently, the CreationDate should, in most cases, contain the same date as the MasteringDate (if provided).

The Recording Information Notification standard allows one CreationDate for each SoundRecording (to contain, again, the date of the end of the mastering process). However, RIN also allows one CreationDate for each RecordingComponent – and it is a mix of these components that will, in the end, make up a published recording.

These components’ creation dates signal the date when the recording component was recorded or mixed – and would be a date not later than the sound recording’s CreationDate.
