Release profiles in ERN 3
The release profiles describe the most common release types and are principally aimed at companies that only wish to communicate a small subset of the types of products that can be communicated using the complete NewReleaseMessage in ERN 3. The specification for the Release Profiles for Common Release Types version 1.4 for use with ERN 3.8.3 is available here.
The table below lists the available release profiles with a brief description of each. The specification then goes on to provide in detail what data has to be supplied when communicating that specific type of release using the profile.

1. Audio Single | A release containing one or more sound recording(s) plus supporting cover image. |
2. Video Single | A release containing one or more music video recording(s) plus support screen capture image. |
3. Mixed Media Bundle | A release containing a mixture of several audio and video recordings and potentially images and text, plus supporting screen capture for each music video track and a single cover image. |
4. Audio Album | A release containing several sound recordings, some of which may not be not songs, plus supporting cover image, including singles containing more than one resource. Examples include comedy shows. |
5. Video Album | A release containing several music video, plus screen capture per track and supporting cover image. |
6. Ringtone | A release containing a single audio mobile ringtone clip using a sound recording resource. |
7. MidiRingtone | A release containing a single audio mobile ringtone clip using a MIDI resource. |
8. Long-form Music Video | A release containing a multi-chapter long form music video recording, plus a supporting cover image and potentially a screen capture per chapter. |
9. Digital Boxed Set | A release containing a multi-volume/component digital product made up of a number of other existing digital products containing audio and audiovisual resources, plus supporting cover image(s). |
10. Classical Audio Album | An audio-only release containing several audio recordings, grouped into classical works, plus supporting cover image. |
11. Single Resource Release | A release containing a single resource for distribution to consumers. Typically provided to a partner for finger printing /rights management type services. |
12. TV Series Release | A release containing one or more audio-visual "Episodes", grouped and related to one another. |
13. Film Bundle Release | A release containing one or more individual individual video resources that are collated only for the creation of this release. |
14. Wall Paper Release | A release containing a still image to be used as a wall paper on a mobile device. |
15. Simple Video Single | A release containing one or more music video recording(s) plus support screen capture image with no track release. This profile is usually used for video streaming services. |
16. Single Resource Release with Cover Art | A release containing a single resource (plus cover art) for distribution to consumers. |
17. Audio Book | A release containing at least one audio recording of a non-musical work such as a book being read or enacted, plus supporting cover image. |
18. Classical Audio Album (AV) | A release containing at least one audio recording and at least one audiovisual recording, grouped into classical works, plus supporting cover image. |
19. Classical Audio Album (Video) | A release containing at least one audio-visual recording, grouped into classical works, plus supporting cover image. |
20. Digital Boxed Set (Audio Only) | A release containing multi-volume/component digital releases made up of a number of other existing digital releases containing audio resources only, plus supporting cover image(s). |
