Contextual relationship

There is a critical and interdependent relationship between ErrorType, ErrorSeverity, and RegistrationStatus. Together, these elements provide the complete contextual framework needed to understand the nature of an error, its business impact, and the resulting status of the rights claim. All additional elements within the RegistrationError composite supply supporting context that helps recipients interpret, diagnose, and resolve the issue.

Put simply, ErrorType provides the diagnosis, ErrorSeverity provides the assessment, and RegistrationStatus provides the outcome:

  • ErrorType identifies the nature of the error — whether data is missing, incorrectly formatted, or logically inconsistent;

  • ErrorSeverity indicates the business impact of that error, reflecting how seriously it affects the ability to process, register, or pay on the claim; and

  • RegistrationStatus communicates the overall outcome of the rights claim based on the highest severity error reported. ErrorType and ErrorSeverity together provide the basis for determining the RegistrationStatus, which communicates whether a claim is accepted, conditionally accepted, or rejected.
